Anchor Press, Paper & Print
In 2013, I converted to tenure track at the same time I co-hosted with Rina Yoon (MIAD) the “Print:MKE” SGC International conference for printmaking. During the conference, we awarded Collaborative Printer, David Jones, the “Outstanding in Printmaking” award. David and his partner, Marilyn Propp, founded Anchor Graphics in 1990. It found a home at Columbia College in Chicago, IL. After a 25-year run with an archive of published collaborations with renowned artists, robust programs, and international recognition, Anchor Graphics closed its doors due to the Columbia College’s decision to end funding for their programs. On a leap of faith, I offered to store the entire printshop in Milwaukee until we could find it a home. We did! We established a new iteration, Anchor Press, Paper & Print (AP3)! Originally, we rented a space at 900 Keefe Ave within the House of RAD. We outgrew the space, experienced problems due to the poor condition of the building, and sought to find a home that was more centrally located in the city. We did! Brandon Minga, founder and principal of the House of RAD, and I partnered to purchase a 67,000 sq/ft building in the heart of Milwaukee’s Design District and named it the Aether Society. We are currently moving to the new facility and hope to be fully operational by the new year.

House of RAD
Founded and managed by Brandon Minga, the House of RAD (Resident Artist Doers) is more than the physical home of Anchor Press, Paper & Print — it is an essential site of my research. As an Executive Board Member, consultant, resident artist, and curator of an on-site gallery, I work within this artist-led ecosystem to study how collaborative infrastructures can sustain creative practice. The House of RAD operates as a sanctuary for artists, rooted in solidarity and shared resources, where interdisciplinary exchange both shapes and is shaped by the surrounding community. My research examines how these networks of support enable new modes of production, exhibition, and participation, expanding access to the arts while generating new knowledge about how creative communities thrive. Through ongoing exhibitions, public programming, and collective problem-solving, this project demonstrates the impact of artist-run spaces as catalysts for cultural connection and innovation.
